Barrel Aged Flanders Red
Flanders Red Ales are unique to the West Flanders Region of Belgium. Often referred to as a Sour Ale or Sour Red, these beers are historically brewed with organisms other than Saccharomyces (Brewers Yeast) including lactobacillus, which produces a lactic acid tartness. Our brewers aged our Flanders Red in a mix of French Pinot Noir, French Brandy, and American Bourbon Barrels with a touch of freshly aged Golden Ale to soften the acidity of the lactic acid. This is one of the last beers produced by our Co-Founder and Brewmaster Curt Plants, “Man of the Hour” is a tribute to the evolution of GoodLife Brewing and the heritage left behind by our truly great leader, friend, and visionary!
From the Brewer’s
Deep red to mahogany in color, with aromas of soft oak baked plum and sweet cherry, complimenting the spicy yet subtle tannins all make way to a truly approachable sour ale. With a slightly sweet candy-like finish and a tiny cocoa on the backend, Man of the Hour is equally drinkable and a satisfying, red wine-like flanders red ale.
